The US immigration law regime could see drastic changes with a new president in the White House. The Biden Administration described the ways it intends to reform the immigration system in a press release earlier this month.
The release discussed a pathway to citizenship for the Country’s 11 million undocumented immigrants, an end to visa restrictions imposed on certain Muslim-majority countries, and strengthening protections for DACA recipients.
In addition to hard policy proposals, the release signaled a marked shift from the previous administration in how immigration laws and regulations would be enforced by the Government.
“President Biden’s strategy is centered on the basic premise that our country is safer, stronger, and more prosperous with a fair, safe and orderly immigration system that welcomes immigrants, keeps families together, and allows people—both newly arrived immigrants and people who have lived here for generations—to more fully contribute to our country,” the release read.
Finding a pathway for you and your family
Applying for immigration benefits can be stressful. After all, immigration law is mercurial and even experienced professionals have trouble keeping up with the myriad procedural changes that may be introduced any given year.
Furthermore, the system is notoriously unforgiving. Even a seemingly insignificant mistake can have devastating consequences for the applicant and their loved ones.
This is why it’s critical to have an experienced immigration lawyer by your side throughout the process, whether you’re applying for permanent residency or a work permit. An attorney understands the subtleties and fine points that define US immigration law, saving the applicant time and money.
